| Whale Watching (In-season only) From Dec-April the giant humpback whales makes their winder home in Maui’s offshore waters. Whale watching excursions are the #1 activity during whale season. Several shoreline sites offer excellent whale watching as well. Maui is a wonderful place to see humpback whales in their natural breeding area. Each year from mid-December through mid-May the humpback whales make their way to the warm pacific waters surrounding the island of Maui. The whales migrate almost 3,500 miles from their cold Alaskan summer feeding waters, to the warm waters of Hawaii. It’s in our warm tropical waters that the humpback whales mate and bear their calves. You can catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures from your breakfast table, your private deck, the beach or while driving along the coastal highway. If you keep your eyes peeled, you’re bound to see a mother and her calf leap out of the water or slap their giant tail in the surf. For a whale watching experience you’ll never forget you can choose to board an educational and exciting whale-watching cruise departing from Lahaina harbor. |
